Okavango Foods Limited is a Zambian food processing business, a key player in Zambia’s food value chain supplying major chain stores, hotels, lodges, and households.
To scale the business Okavango and Prospero entered into a partnership to help Okavango meet the required standards of food safety and management efficiency. This was attained through a comprehensive support mechanism that provided a grant amounting to £5153.50 and technical assistance.
As a result of the support, the company boasts of over forty-three (43) full-time and thirty (30) casual employees from ten (10) casual employees they had before the partnership. The company is further empowering women entrepreneurs and strengthening local supply chains by directly supporting three (03) women entrepreneurs in Lusaka’s Bauleni compound through purchasing tonnes of fresh vegetables weekly and indirectly supporting thirty-five (35) other suppliers of assorted farm produce through an aggregator based at Lusaka’s Soweto market.
